Who we are
GridGuys operates gridguys.co.uk, a UK website that connects businesses with independent commercial and industrial electrical contractors. GridGuys does not carry out electrical work itself.
For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights described below, contact us at admin@gridguys.co.uk.
Information we collect
When you submit an enquiry through this website, we collect the details you give us:
- your name and, where provided, your company name
- your email address and telephone number
- your postcode or site location
- the service you selected and your project description
- your indicated timeframe and any other details you choose to include
We also record limited technical information that accompanies your submission, such as the page or campaign reference you arrived from and the time of submission. This helps us route enquiries correctly and detect misuse.
How we use your information
- to review your enquiry and identify a suitable independent electrical contractor
- to pass your enquiry to that contractor so they can respond to you directly
- to contact you about your enquiry if we need clarification
- to maintain the security and integrity of the website and prevent misuse
Sharing your enquiry with a contractor
This is the core purpose of the service. When you submit an enquiry, the information you provide may be passed to one or more independent electrical contractors so that they can contact you and respond to your enquiry, including preparing a quotation if appropriate.
Each contractor is a separate business and acts as an independent data controller for the information they receive. Their own privacy practices apply once your details have been passed to them, and any contract, quotation, work and warranty arrangements are between you and that contractor.
If you do not want your details shared with a contractor, please do not submit the enquiry form — contact us at admin@gridguys.co.uk instead.
Other recipients
We also use service providers that operate the website and deliver enquiry notifications by email on our behalf. These providers process the information only to provide those services to us. We may disclose information where we are required to do so by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Legal bases for processing
Under UK GDPR we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — to operate the matching service, pass your enquiry to a suitable contractor and keep the website secure.
- Steps prior to entering a contract — where you are asking to be put in contact with a contractor about work.
- Consent — for any non-essential cookies, which stay switched off until you accept them.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep or disclose information by law.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiry information for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and to keep a record of the introduction we made, and then for a reasonable period afterwards to deal with any queries or disputes. After that it is deleted or anonymised. Contractors set their own retention periods for information they receive.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to your personal information, and to request that it is corrected, deleted or restricted. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests, request portability of information you provided, and withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time.
To make a request, email admin@gridguys.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. Where your details have already been passed to a contractor, you may also need to contact that contractor directly about the information they hold.
Cookies
Essential cookies and similar storage operate by default so the website works. Analytics and advertising cookies remain disabled unless you consent to them. See the Cookie Policy for details, or .
Security and international transfers
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. Where a service provider processes information outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
