Review quotations on their merits
Compare the scope, specification, programme and price in any quotation you receive, and ask the contractor to explain anything that is unclear before accepting.
Contractor Selection
GridGuys is a lead-connect platform, not an electrical contractor. This page explains — without overstating it — how enquiries are routed and where responsibility for checking a contractor sits.
GridGuys reviews the information supplied with an enquiry and aims to route it toward contractors whose stated services and coverage appear relevant to the requirement. That routing is based on the type of work described, the location of the site and the information contractors provide about the services they offer and the areas they cover.
We do not currently operate a formal vetting, accreditation or audit programme, and we do not claim to. Routing an enquiry to a contractor is not a guarantee of their suitability, availability, pricing or standard of work, and it should not be treated as a recommendation or endorsement.
GridGuys is not the electrical contractor. Electrical work is undertaken by the contractor your enquiry is passed to. Before instructing any work, you should review the following directly with the contractor:
Compare the scope, specification, programme and price in any quotation you receive, and ask the contractor to explain anything that is unclear before accepting.
Ask the contractor directly about their qualifications, scheme memberships and experience with your type of work, and verify anything that matters to your decision.
Ask for evidence of the contractor's current public liability and any other relevant insurance before instructing work.
Any contract, warranty, payment terms and programme are agreed between you and the contractor. GridGuys is not a party to that agreement.
We intend to publish the criteria used when considering contractors for the platform as the network develops. This section will set out the information contractors are asked to provide about their services, coverage and credentials.
This section is under development. No formal selection criteria are currently published, and none should be assumed.
We intend to describe here what documentation — such as insurance evidence and scheme membership — contractors may be asked to supply, and how customers can raise concerns about a contractor they have been introduced to.
This section is under development. Until it is published, customers should verify all documentation directly with the contractor.
We intend to publish the standards contractors on the platform are expected to work to, and how those standards are reviewed over time.
This section is under development. No network standards are currently published, and none should be assumed.
