Commercial Electrical Services

Commercial Electrical Services for UK Businesses

GridGuys is a commercial electrical lead-connect platform. We help businesses and commercial organisations connect with electrical contractors for commercial and industrial requirements, from a single remedial job to planned works across a portfolio of premises.

GridGuys does not carry out electrical work. We take the details of a requirement and pass the enquiry to a contractor working in that category and area, who then quotes and deals with you directly.

Ways to enquire

Choose the enquiry that fits your requirement

Each route uses the same enquiry form and simply tells the receiving contractor what kind of response you are looking for.

Request a Commercial Quote

Describe a defined piece of commercial or industrial electrical work and have the enquiry passed to a contractor for pricing.

Request a Site Visit

Where the scope cannot be priced from a description alone, ask for a contractor to attend and survey the site first.

Who it is for

Built around commercial and industrial buyers

Commercial electrical work is bought differently to domestic work. These are the roles the platform is set up for.

Businesses and site operators

Organisations responsible for their own premises, from a single unit to a production facility, who need electrical work specified, priced and carried out.

Facilities and estates teams

In-house FM, estates and engineering teams sourcing contractors for planned works, remedials and continuing maintenance.

Property managers and landlords

Managing agents and commercial landlords arranging works, inspections and compliance testing across let premises.

Contractors and project teams

Main contractors, fit-out teams and consultants needing an electrical contractor for a package of works on a live project.

Each of the services below has a dedicated page setting out what the work involves and what to include when enquiring.

By sector

The same services are bought differently depending on the environment. These pages set out how enquiries typically arise in each.

Premises

Commercial premises and project types

Enquiries commonly relate to premises of the following kinds, whether occupied, under refurbishment or in the course of a fit-out.

  • Offices and business parks
  • Retail units and shopping centres
  • Warehouses and distribution
  • Factories and production plants
  • Hospitality and leisure
  • Schools, colleges and universities
  • Healthcare and care premises
  • Workshops and trade counters
  • Depots and transport yards
  • Laboratories and clean areas
  • Data and comms facilities
  • Mixed-use commercial buildings

Types of requirement

Reactive and planned electrical requirements

Reactive electrical requirements

Faults, failures and unsafe findings that need attention before normal operation can continue: loss of supply on a circuit or board, tripping that will not reset, damaged distribution equipment, failed emergency lighting or a defect raised during an inspection.

  • Fault finding and diagnosis on distribution and final circuits
  • Making safe, isolation and temporary arrangements
  • Remedial works following a report or inspection finding
  • Out-of-hours attendance where a site cannot stop during trading

Planned electrical projects

Work that can be programmed, specified and priced in advance, usually around occupancy, production or a construction programme.

  • Fit-out, refurbishment and reconfiguration of existing space
  • Lighting schemes, LED replacement and emergency lighting installation
  • Distribution board changes, sub-mains and capacity upgrades
  • Machinery, plant and process power installations
  • Periodic inspection and testing planned across a programme

Ongoing requirements

Maintenance and multi-site needs

Many commercial requirements are continuing rather than one-off: a fixed wire testing programme spread over several years, planned preventative maintenance on distribution equipment and emergency lighting, and reactive cover for faults that cannot wait for the next planned visit.

Where several premises are involved, the practical questions are usually consistency of records, how attendance is arranged across locations, and how remedial works arising from testing are handled. The enquiry form allows you to state the number of sites, any existing maintenance arrangement and any access or out-of-hours constraints, so a contractor can respond to the whole picture rather than a single job.

How the matching process works

  1. 01

    You describe the requirement

Service category, site postcode, premises type, the works involved and your timeframe. Drawings, photographs, specifications or a previous report can be attached.

  2. 02

We review what has been submitted

We look at the type of work, the location and the timeframe so the enquiry is directed at a contractor set up for that kind of commercial or industrial work.

  3. 03

    The enquiry is passed on

Your details are passed to an electrical contractor. GridGuys does not carry out electrical work and does not price the works itself.

  4. 04

The contractor deals with you directly

Any survey, quotation, programme, contract and the work itself are between you and that contractor.

GridGuys is a matching service, not the contractor. Read our approach to contractor selection and how enquiries are handled.
